Head Coach/Manager at Cape Town Surf School

Sven has been surfing for over 12 years and teaching for 8, with more than 1,000 surf lessons under his belt. With a background in running water sports programs for schools, he brings a wealth of experience, energy, and care to every session. His teaching style is patient, encouraging, and fun—while always keeping safety the top priority.

For Sven, surfing is about much more than just riding waves. He believes the ocean is a powerful teacher, helping people build confidence, perseverance, and resilience. Cold salt water, he says, is its own form of therapy—improving self-image, boosting mental health, and connecting us to something much bigger than ourselves. Most of all, Sven sees surfing as a gateway to community and to a lifestyle that can truly change your life.

When he’s not in the water, you’ll often find Sven surf-skating (he’s proudly sponsored for it!) or practicing mindfulness. He’s a big believer in the link between mental health and movement, and he brings that same mindful, holistic approach to the way he teaches. Oh—and if you ever want a fun surf fact, ask him about what a “Hang 11” really means!

Bianca is the passionate heart and hands behind Cape Town Surf School, a mobile surf school based in the beautiful coastal city of Cape Town, South Africa that focuses on beginner surf lessons. With roots in Durban and having been raised in Cape Town, Bianca has been surrounded by the sea her whole life, growing a deep, respectful, and joyful connection to the ocean from an early age

Since founding Cape Town Surf School in 2015, Bianca has dedicated herself not just to do surfing lessons, but to creating meaningful, personal experiences for every student who joins the school. She believes that surfing is not just a sport – it's a way to connect with yourself, with nature, and with others from all over the world

As a hands-on owner, Bianca wears many hats and thrives in her dynamic role. Her responsibilities include:

Managing bookings with care and attention to detail
Delegating lessons and sessions to her trusted team of surf coaches
Overseeing all operations to ensure the mobile surf school runs smoothly
Marketing and social media management, including photography and content creation
Customer relationship building, making sure every guest feels welcomed and supported

One of the most distinctive things about Bianca is her genuine love for helping others. She isn't driven by money or competition – her mission is to share the stoke of surfing and the beauty of the ocean with as many people as possible.
